Coperion, Herbold to display digital simulation of recycling plant at Fakuma | Sustainable Plastics

Coperion and Herbold Meckesheim will showcase solutions for plastics recycling and compounding at Fakuma 2024. The Germany-based companies will jointly present innovations aimed at enhancing efficiency and product quality in both fields.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore virtual animations of complete systems, including a fully integrated compounding plant and a recycling facility. These digital simulations will allow visitors to dive into the processes and functions of key components, offering a detailed view of the technology in action.

Herbold Meckesheim will also display rotors from their granulators, highlighting the efficiency of their cutting geometry, which plays a crucial role in optimising performance across various applications.

In addition to recycling, Coperion will highlight advancements in their ZSK and STS twin screw extruders and associated feeding technologies. The reworked ZSK 18 MEGAlab laboratory extruder, with its patent-pending feeding platform, offers enhanced flexibility and safety for compounding tasks. Their ProRate PLUS feeder line will also be on display, featuring efficient feeding solutions for powder additives.

Coperion and Herbold Meckesheim offer fully integrated systems for recycling a wide range of plastics. These systems cover the entire process chain, from mechanical steps such as shredding, washing, separating, and drying, to bulk material handling, extrusion, compounding, and pelletizing. Their latest project involves building a complete bottle-to-bottle recycling system for India’s Magpet Polymer Pvt Ltd., handling every step of PET bottle recycling with high-quality output.

Both companies provide state-of-the-art Test Centres in Germany, where customers can test various recycling technologies under production conditions before committing to investments. Herbold Meckesheim's 800 square metres facility offers a complete washing line and size reduction equipment, while Coperion's newly launched Recycling Innovation Centre in Weingarten features fully configurable recycling plants for hands-on testing of the entire recycling process.
